Brides and Grooms-to-be: here, find some helpful dance tips and suggestions to help prepare you for your WEDDING DANCE, and to ensure your first dance as husband and wife will be memorable-not only for you, but for your guests and family as well.
SELECT A SONG - Visit our studio and see our unique wedding song list! Choose a song that you enjoy and that feels special to you. It should have an easy beat that you feel comfortable with and enjoy moving to. If you'd like a slow dance, try a Foxtrot or a Waltz. If you're looking for an upbeat feel, you might choose Swing, Salsa-even Tango! If you're not sure where to begin, or would like some suggestions, talk with one of our dance instructors. They'll be more than happy to help you select the right style.
ONCE YOU'VE DECIDED - One of our professional dance instructors will take the time to work with you and create something original. Your dance could be whatever you choose! Looking for something classic? We'll find the right balance of traditional choreography and flair to create a timeless dance. Feeling something more theatrical? Your teacher will create something fun and unique that shows off your individual personality. Whatever your style, you'll have a dance that truly celebrates the event.
PRACTICE YOUR DANCE - Enjoy the process as much as the final event! Get comfortable with the steps, timing, and rhythm of your song. Visit our studio as often as you'd like to polish and practice your moves! Our sound system is easy to access and offers lots of options. We offer such a broad selection of music to practice to, you'll never find yourself bored of the song collection.
Maybe this is a chance for you to step a little outside of your comfort zone. Maybe, you've entertained the thought of performing at your wedding, or just showing off with a few special moves. Either way, the preparation should be just as fun as the event itself-and at Dance Fever Studio, it will be. With the help of our experienced instructors, you'll be thrilled that you went for it!
And, who knows? Chances are, you'll find yourself wanting to keep dancing long after the wedding day is over!

Blackpool
Every major sport has an event that signifies it. American Football has The Superbowl, baseball has The World Series, and soccer has the World Cup. These go along with the Olympics, The Kentucky Derby and The Indianapolis 500. Each of these events has put its stamp on the world not only because of their existence but because of the history, tradition and fanfare which surround them.
In Dancesport the granddaddy of all competitions is the Blackpool Dance Festival. It is by far the foremost Dancesport competition in the world. The festival is held across an 8 day period in May of each year. It started in 1920 and is the world's largest and most famous competition. Couples from all around the world travel to Blackpool England in May to take part in this magnificent event. One highlight of the competition is the live music which serenades the competitors as they compete. The other highlight is the venue. The Winter Gardens is a complex of theatres, ballrooms and conference facilities located in the center of Blackpool. Since the very first festival in 1920 the Empress Ballroom in the Winter Gardens has been host to this magnificent event. The Empress Ballroom with its balconies and elegant layout adds to the prestigious atmosphere of the event.
The competition covers Ballroom and Latin dancing including the British Open Championships for adult amateur and professional couples as well as formation teams. In 2005 the British Rising Star categories were added for Ballroom and Latin dancing.
Professional Team Matches and exhibition categories add to the excitement and glamour of the event. The Junior Dance Festival, Blackpool Sequence Dance Festival, and British National Dance Festival are also held annually in Blackpool.
The World Professional Dancesport Championships have also been held in Blackpool even though they have not been tied to the Festival
The magic of this event is not only in the venue and the music but in the competitors and adjudicators. In 2008 68 countries were represented with a total of 1,863 couples, 8 Latin Formation Teams, 3 Ballroom Teams and 7 exhibition couples. The qualification of the adjudicators is also unrivaled. Every judge was either a finalist or a champion of Blackpool in the past.
The Blackpool competition is often considered the Crown Jewel of Dancesport competition. Every dancer dreams of dancing in the beautiful hall and being Blackpool Champion. |
